About the project

  • Contact Details: Thandazi Msomi
  • Client: Injobo Ithungelwa Ebandla Co-operative
The five member co-op under the ILembe District Municipality led by Thandazi Msomi has been in existence for nine years producing fresh vegetables including green beans, butternut, tomatoes, and cabbage which it supplies to Enterprise ILembe, an economic development agency, and to locals. As part of the Agribusiness Development Agency (ADA) mandate to facilitate the growth of a sustainable and competitive agribusiness sector in KwaZulu- Natal, Ndwedwe-based Injobo Ithungelwa Ebandla Cooperative received productivity-boosting equipment to the value of R2-million. The ADA, in July, approved for grant funding for the purchase of a tractor, seedlings and fertilizers. The agency, through its crop production cluster, has also been assisting the coop to source working capital from other institutions including Ithala Development Finance and Corporate.
